Until the introduction of this simple external flow regulator device, all other disposable intravenous flow control devices are valve based to adjust the rate of fluid delivered to a patient. If the fluid level in the I.V. fluid reservoir is changed or the patient is moved or stood or sat, the flow rate undoubtedly would change.
Sometimes these unexpected rate changes increase the patient to dangerous or unacceptably slow flow rates. When it is necessary to maintain the required flow rate only costly electromechanical devices are employed.
This new styled flow regulator can compensate for changes described above to always maintain established flow rates regardless of changes to input or output pressures. This is a low cost disposable device, and has showed to be as accurate in regulating flow rates versus electromechanical controllers which at the time cost almost 50 times as much.
This disposable flow regulator relies on a pressure-sensitive cam that depresses from an external position onto the available IV tubing used by the provider on the patient to avert pressure fluctuations so constant volumetric output is established/preserved in the most convenient cost effective manner possible.
This flow regulator not only preserves an established flow rate during situations where patient movement is likely but once the flow regulator is no longer needed it can be cleaned and stored for re-use.
This product was designed for use by paramedics when transporting patients, busy trauma OR venues, outpatient surgical centers, etc. where high quality low cost reusable IV regulators are required.
