The principle benefit of this patented Interlaminar Spinal Fixation (i.e. ISP) System is that it can be placed between the spinous processes, away from the neural elements including the spinal cord and spinal nerves. The implant is placed through a 2-3 cm incision using an innovative patented expansion mechanism that makes the delivery of this implantation one of easiest of any ISP implants in the market.

The Inserter and Compressor instruments for this innovative design redefine ease-of-use and allows the surgeon to quickly and accurately place this implant into position with or without the removal of the interspinous ligaments.

In addition, implant insertion and compression method is safely achieved without the need for multiple instruments, including “bulky” compressors, reduces overall procedure time.  Imagine, regardless of patient anatomy, all that is needed is one (1) expansion ISP, one (1) compressor instrument, one (1) simple inserter and one simple driver to expand and lock the implant!  The anterior expansion beam design for this implant creates an ideal containment area that maximizes the amount of bone graft material to generate bony fixation between the spinous process.

Features include:

  • Small diameter wide-spike design (16 spikes per implant over a broad area) for increased load sharing capacity under both static and fatigue testing.

  • Laminar Lock Design effectively limits motion in all three planes - lateral bending, axial rotation, and flexion/extension.

  • One implant that allows for a significant range of implant sizes for optimum anatomical fit (i.e. Implant expansion range -- 6mm to 18mm).

  • Its low profile design retains access to facet joints and other anatomy.

  • Proprietary and patented gear system makes implant lock down as simple as locking one screw!

  • Decompressions and or implant sizing possible intraoperatively without the use of additional distractors.
