Deploy is a new expansion spinal implant that will compete in the extreme lateral interbody fusion (i.e. XLIF) device market. Deploy was designed with the goal to more safely deliver a lateral implant into the spinal disc space including a reduction in surgical time to improve patient outcomes. This new implant was developed predominantly to treat spinal disorders such as reducing long-term back and or leg pain.
Deploy is an improved type of interbody fusion device where the bone graft is intraoperatively injected into the inner aperture of the implant once the implant has been expanded in the disc space to mitigate possible subsidence. This biologic delivery feature once the implant is expanded allows the fusion of two vertebrae without any efficacious compromise.
Accordingly, the primary difference between Deploy and traditional XLIF devices in the market has to do with initial (before insertion) and final implant size (once implanted). With a 16mm initial width this small size makes the insertion of the implant an easy bet to circumnavigate challenged anatomy.
With the ability to expand the implant as wide as 23mm once it is positioned in the discal space, Deploy will have one of the largest implant footprints in the market to mitigate potential subsidence while the segment fuses. This device is expected to make lateral implant delivery easier for the surgeon while mitigating potential segmental subsidence versus the current XLIFs on the market.
Potential Advantages of XLIF may include:
